March 16, 2024, is a day that will live on in my memory because it was the most magical spring day I’ve ever experienced in D.C. The sky was clear and blue, the air had low humidity, the temperatures rose into the 70’s, and the saucer magnolias and yoshino cherry blossoms bloomed all at once. And I’ll truly never forget this day, because it was the day that Maria & Alec married at Hotel Washington.
Guests from Europe and New England came together to celebrate this D.C.-living couple who met in the French groom’s hometown of Paris. (Yes my friends, Maria took a long weekend trip to Paris and met her husband. Dreams do come true.) The couple, who work in international hospitality and events, prioritized creating a welcoming and exciting experience for their guests that would leave them all with with fabulous memories, new connections, and incredible photos. The wedding was intentional, personal, and most importantly, FUN.
The couple chose Hotel Washington because they wanted a venue that really highlighted D.C.; about 90% of their guests came from out of town, with a third traveling from abroad. They thought the hotel, with it’s stylish rooms and lobby and central location, was an excellent home base for their guests for their destination weekend. The couple loved that the Sky Room rooftop lounge, where they hosted their cocktail hour, provided incredible views of the city. From there, the Willard Intercontinental reminded them of a Paris rooftop, which is a fun nod to the Parisian groom and the city where they fell in love.
As the night went on, the wedding transitioned into an all-out Euro Dance Party, with guests enjoying activities and making new connections. The fun, welcoming environment facilitated genuine moments of joy and love and helped guests feel fully themselves.
